ACC Suspends Fall Semester 2020
Dear ACC Parents and Singers,
We want to thank you for your continuing support and participation in the Avondale Children's Choir (ACC). These are challenging days for all of us as we navigate the Coronavirus pandemic and make decisions regarding ways to mitigate its effects.
The Avondale Children's Choir Board has decided to suspend all ACC activities for the Fall Semester of 2020. This will include all rehearsals and "live" concert engagements. Scientific studies show that the act of singing is especially conducive to the spreading of the novel Coronavirus. Therefore, with a primary concern for the safety of our singers and their families, we feel that this is the best option for our choir at this time.
Suspending the Fall Semester of the ACC does not necessarily mean that we will suspend the Spring Semester of 2021. We will wait to make that decision until later this year (November). In the meantime, we will closely monitor the latest scientific data available and see what the CDC and other public health agencies recommend. We'll also see what similar choral groups are doing about the Spring Semester of 2021. It is our sincere hope that we can reconvene in January, but we will have to wait and see.
We are sorry that this pandemic has led to this difficult decision. We promise to resume making beautiful music as soon as it is reasonably safe to do so. Please know that it is important to us to retain all of our currently enrolled singers. When we are able to return to regular ACC activities, we will offer a tuition discount to all of the singers who were registered for the Spring Semester of 2020. The ACC Board has also begun the process of obtaining a 501(c)(3) "Approved Non-Profit" status. This will assure that the ACC will be a viable performing arts organization that seeks to fulfill its mission through many years to come.
Thank you for understanding and for your ongoing support of the Avondale Children's Choir.
Please take care, stay safe, and give your singer(s) our very best wishes.
Sincerely, The ACC Board
