R. Mark Green, M.R.E., M.C.M. - Director


The Avondale Children’s Choir is under the direction of R. Mark Green. Mr. Green holds an Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, and two Master’s Degrees in both Music and Education from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He has over 40 years of choral directing experience. 


Mr. Green holds active memberships in The American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and The Chorister’s Guild. Affectionately known as “Mr. Mark,” Mr. Green currently serves full time as the Associate Pastor of Music and Education at First Baptist Church Avondale Estates. He and his wife, Cindy have been residents of Avondale Estates since 2006. They have two married sons and three grandchildren.

Tama McGee - Assistant Director


Tama McGee holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music from the University of South Carolina, with emphasis on piano and vocal education. Tama has studied piano, violin, and voice and has performed with numerous college and community choirs in Columbia, SC and Atlanta, GA. She has been a involved with the DeKalb Choral Guild since 1999 as a singer and Board member and is co-founder of Solstice, a small semi-professional choir in the Metro Atlanta area. Tama sings in The Neon Queen, an alternative ABBA band.


Tama taught high school piano, music appreciation, and drama classes and directed both chorus and orchestra before leaving her career to homeschool to her son and daughter. Tama currently teaches voice classes at LEAD Homeschool and has served as the Assistant Director of the Avondale Children’s Choir since 2009.
